Update – City brings services to Khayelitsha and Lentegeur

15 May 2023

The City of Cape Town’s Mobile Office will be deployed in Khayelitsha, and the Basket of Services will be on offer at Lentegeur’s Civic Centre. The Basket of Services in Lentegeur presents an ideal opportunity for residents from the area to get assistance from City officials representing a variety of directorates.

The schedule for next week is as follows:

·        Mobile Office: Tuesday, 16 May 2023, from 09:30 to 13:30 at the Blue Hall, 61 Bekelentloko Street, Town 2, Khayelitsha

·        Basket of Services: Friday, 19 May 2023, from 09:30 to 15:00 at the Lentegeur Civic Centre, Merrydale Ave, Lentegeur

The departments that will be visiting Lentegeur include:

·       Customer Relations Department for account queries, general enquiries, service requests and logging of C3s

  • Human Resources for enquiries about bursaries, internships and apprenticeships
  • Social Development to find out how you can get involved.
  • Economic Growth to be informed about ways of increasing the production of goods and services.
  • Health for more information about primary health care services
  • Safety and Security for information about traffic and law enforcement services
  • EPWP will assist jobseekers and give unemployed youth an opportunity to register on the jobseekers database so that they are eligible for job opportunities that become available in their local communities.

The City's Customer Relations Department's mobile team will assist Khayelitsha residents with logging queries and service requests electronically. Customers can engage with the City in a wide range of non-emergency enquiries such as rates, sewage, electricity, water, refuse collections, and all other account enquiries. To date, the mobile office team has been very effective in resolving long outstanding queries for residents.

'I encourage residents to visit the Mobile Office at the Blue Hall and the Basket of Services at the Civic Centre in Lentegeur. Our staff will be at their service as part of the City's commitment to bring its services to residents and to make local government more accessible. Those who wish to make use of these services or register for programmes must please remember to bring along their ID or municipal accounts to help ease the process,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.
